Akos holds an NIH K99/R00 Award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and was previously an EMBO Long-Term Postdoctoral Fellow, an EMBO Short-Term Fellow at ETH Zurich, and a Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Ph.D. Fellow. Akos is a 2025 Rising Star in Engineering in Health (awarded by Columbia, Cornell, Boston, and Johns Hopkins Universities), a Distinguished Young Scholar, and a Next Generation in Biomedicine awardee at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Oliver Stearns
Graduate Research Assistant
Oliver joins the lab in mid-October 2026 from Northeastern University, where he directed the Wet Lab Makerspace after finishing his BS in Bioengineering with biochemistry concentration. Prior to his role in the lab, he studied cAMP/cGMP regulation in drug-resistant A. baumannii in the Geisinger lab at Northeastern and the roles of T4 phage early gene goF and mutant variants in the Hinton lab at the National Institutes of Health.
